The Pentagon’s inspector general released the first formal accounting of US losses in the Iran war on Monday, September 14, 2026. Citing US Central Command, it says Iranian strikes damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan between February 28 and June 30. Dozens of aircraft were also destroyed or damaged.

Damage to US diplomatic facilities totalled about $184 million, with Iraq accounting for most of it. The embassy in Riyadh was hit by two Iranian drones in early March. The embassy in Kuwait suspended operations in March after being struck, and resumed emergency services in late June. Up to 3,500 diplomatic personnel were out of the region at points between February 23 and June 30.

The report says the attacks forced CENTCOM to move personnel, equipment and storage, including withdrawing Army medical evacuation helicopters from Iraq and Kuwait. It did not give a cost estimate for damage to US military sites.
