Iranian state media report that Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has issued new defence orders to the country’s top military commanders. He is described as Iran’s Supreme Commander-in-Chief and Leader of the Revolution. According to these reports, he said any military or terrorist threat to Iran will get a swift and effective response, “without geographic limits”.
What Khamenei Reportedly Said
Khamenei spoke during a meeting with senior armed forces officials, according to Iranian outlets. He gave instructions on defence policy.
He reportedly said that only the Iranian nation and its armed forces would decide when and on what terms any conflict ends. This applies, he said, if enemies “make the mistake” of attacking again.
Orders to Military Commanders
According to the reports, Khamenei told commanders to update their target bank. He wanted all material and non-material assets of what he called the “American-Zionist enemy” to stay within reach of Iranian forces. These are the words attributed to him in Iranian reports, not independent findings.
He also reportedly stressed several other priorities:
Strengthening the military intelligence framework.
Updating defence capabilities with modern technology.
Meeting the economic needs of military personnel.
Commanders Brief the Leader
Senior officers attended the meeting. They were Chief of Staff Major General Abdollahi, Army chief Major General Hatami and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Major General Vahidi.
They reportedly presented details on the full operational readiness of forces in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman and border areas. In addition, they reportedly described a multi-fold increase in the production of advanced weapons and ammunition. Khamenei expressed satisfaction, according to the reports.
Where the Reports Come From
The account comes from Iranian sources. These include the official X account of the Iranian Embassy in India, the state-run Tasnim news agency and Iran’s international broadcaster Press TV. All of them are linked to the Iranian state. No independent outlet has confirmed the statements or the military claims in this report.
Why It Matters
The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for global energy shipping. Any change in military posture around it is closely watched by governments and energy markets. Therefore, further statements from Iran, the United States and Gulf states will be important to follow.
