- Visit data. We use Google Analytics 4, through Google Site Kit, to understand how the site is used. It records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you reached us, and it sets cookies on your device. We don’t count visits from logged-in staff.
- Comments. If you comment, we collect your name, email address, optional website, the comment itself, your IP address and browser user-agent, which helps us detect spam. Your email address is not published. Your name and comment are public. Your email address may be checked against Gravatar to show a profile picture.
- Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your name and email address to send you our newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Hosting data. Our host, Hostinger, and Cloudflare, which delivers pages to readers, process your IP address and request details to serve the site and keep it secure.
How we use it
To run and improve the site, moderate comments, send the newsletter you asked for, and keep the site secure. We don’t sell your personal information.
Cookies
Analytics cookies are set by Google. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking cookies won’t stop you reading the site.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that help us run the site (Google, Hostinger, Cloudflare and our email provider), and where the law requires. If we display advertising in future, advertising partners may also set cookies, and we will update this policy first.
Retention
Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings in our Google Analytics account. Comments stay until removed. Newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove a comment, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law.
